Some days we don't let the line move at all.

I'd like to send a big shout out to my gal T. Pho at the Tysons Corner DMV. In and out in 20 minutes. I like the sound of your tune. Keep on singin', baby.

I fully understand in this world of failed companies, miserable stocks and the crashing reality of too-lofty dreams that layoffs are a necesary evil. T. told me this morning that they laid off 10 people at her DMV office yesterday. Color me idealistic, but I would think that the DMV has got to be one of the most stable shoe-in jobs you could ever pick. I have never seen the Arlington DMV ever been at less than double capacity (even when there are no cars in the parking lot--there's a disproportionate amount of foot traffic going into that DMV), and yet people who actually are willing to work for the DMV are getting laid off. I can't make heads or tails of it.
